Title: Extension Resources Coordinator  

Supervisor Title: Director of Growth  

Position Status: Volunteer, two-year appointment   

Position Summary: Works under the direction of the director of growth and in collaboration with the extension team to coordinate and execute Sigma Kappa’s extension process. This role supports the development and execution of campus-specific extension strategies, content, and materials designed to generate interest and engagement among potential new members. The position brings current knowledge of social media, Gen Z, higher education, and college student engagement trends to ensure extension efforts are relevant, compelling, and aligned with the expectations of today’s students. 

Qualifications:  

  • Initiated member of Sigma Kappa Sorority  

  • Experience working with undergraduates and alumnae and/or life skills that relate to the position summary  

  • Prior experience and/or familiarity with extension/establishing new chapters and recruitment  

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, customer service skills, organizational and delegation skills, time and project management, attention to detail, and interpersonal/relationship building skills  

Responsibilities:  

  • Stays current on social media, Gen Z, higher education, and college student engagement trends to inform extension strategies and ensure Sigma Kappa’s approach reflects the expectations of today’s students. 

  • Works with the extension team to develop campus-specific public relations, marketing, and extension event strategies that align with the culture, needs, and opportunities of each new campus, with final approval from the director of growth. 

  • Advises on and adapts public relations, marketing, and extension event strategies to generate interest, create excitement, and encourage potential new members to attend events and explore the opportunity to join Sigma Kappa.  

  • Collaborates with the director of growth to develop and review materials for presentation, extension, and installation teams, including team letters, guidelines, schedules, questions, and university-specific information. 

  • Partners with the director of growth to identify and engage collegiate chapter members in the area to support presentation, extension, and installation activities, as needed. 

  • Serves as a member of presentation, extension week, and installation teams, as requested.

  • Promotes the ongoing development of a service rapport with collegiate chapters, local and national volunteers, headquarters staff, and all members of the Sorority. 

  • Maintains positive public relations within the Sorority, among all Sorority entities, other NPC, NPHC, MGC and NIC groups, university officials, vendors, and others. 

  • Follows national policies and procedures and abides by local house/suite rules when visiting collegiate chapter facilities. 

  • Promotes a sense of national pride in Sigma Kappa and a strong sisterhood in all related interactions. 

  • Completes all required training and onboarding and participates in additional training opportunities offered to national volunteers. 

  • Attends the Summit for Volunteers annually. 

  • Attends national convention in even-numbered years. 

  • Per the National Policy Handbook, all national officers shall pay alumnae dues either to a local alumnae chapter or directly to national headquarters. 

  • All national officers are encouraged to make an annual financial contribution and/or planned gift to the Sigma Kappa Foundation in accordance with the National Policy Handbook. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the director of growth. 

  • Fosters an environment where members are welcomed, valued for who they are, and treated with respect. 

Technical/Computer Skills:  

  • Ability to effectively use email and Microsoft Office software programs, including a strong understanding of Microsoft Teams and Zoom.  

  • Ability and willingness to effectively use other position-related technology tools  

Travel Requirements:  

  • 7-10 days annually; varies based on extension project  

  • Travel to extension events (extension week, installation, etc.) as requested 

  • National convention: four days in even years; volunteers are responsible for paying the convention registration fee 

Optional Travel:  

  • Summit for Collegiate Leadership: three days annually, if selected as a facilitator 

Time Commitment:  

  • 5-10 hours/week, varies based on current extension project needs  

  • Participate in regular calls with national headquarters staff  

  • Participate in regular calls with extension and new chapter teams  

Volunteer Environment:   

  • This position requires working independently as well as part of a team.   

  • This position requires frequent verbal and face-to-face contact with others. Frequent use of a computer, general office equipment, and/or personal device (e.g., cell phone, tablet) is necessary.
