Position Location:    Carmel, IN (Remote Available)

Position Summary: This role is responsible for the overall strategy, implementation and day-to-day management of all of Sigma Kappa's social media channels -                                                    Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, X (Twitter), LinkedIn and Pinterest. Additionally, this individual serves on Sigma Kappa's crisis communication team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, social media marketing, marketing or related experience.
  • Proficient understanding of social media platforms – Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest – and the audiences for each.
  • Knowledge of how to align content with channels to optimize engagement.
  • Experience using social media management and social media design tools such as Sprout Social, Canva and other equivalent tools.
  • Be able to effectively use data to inform work and demonstrate strong analytical skills.
  • Able to effectively communicate during crisis situations or risk incidents.
  • Video editing skills and experience with video editing software is preferred.
  • Flexible and can meet deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement a cohesive and inclusive social media strategy for the national organization.
  • Create content, photos, videos and graphics for all national Sigma Kappa social media accounts.
  • Measure, report and analyze the performance of social media posts and campaigns across channels and translate findings into recommendations and comprehensive monthly reports.
  • Work with staff teams to create and carry out social media plans for Sigma Kappa events (Week of Giving, Day of Service, Founders’ Day, 1874 Minutes of Giving, etc.) and monitor engagement.
  • Stay up to date with the latest social media platforms and trends and identify if new best practices and technologies should be considered.
  • Serve as a member of the crisis communication team and monitor Sigma Kappa mentions in the news.
  • Promote Sigma Kappa’s online communities, including the alumnae Facebook group, Affinity groups and Sigma Kappa’s online communities.
  • Close caption videos to stay consistent with Sigma Kappa’s accessibility efforts.
  • Co-host and assist with production of Sigma Kappa’s podcast.

  • Consistently demonstrate through words, actions and interactions, alignment with the Sorority’s values, strategic direction and commitment to diversity, equity access and inclusion, focusing on the success of the organization.
  • Promote the ongoing development of a service rapport with chapters, local and national volunteers and all members of the Sorority.
  • Represent Sigma Kappa within related professional organizations as approved by the chief operating officer.
  • Assist with preparations for national meetings as assigned, and travel to meetings to provide on-site staff support (if applicable).
  • Demonstrate a positive, problem-solving mindset and a spirit of teamwork and cooperation.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Maintain positive public relations within the Sorority, among all Sorority entities, in contact with other membership groups, university officials, vendors, and others
  • Maintain and develop materials and procedure notebooks as appropriate to the position.
  • Perform other duties as may be prescribed by the executive director or director of digital communication of Sigma Kappa Sorority.

  • Ability to effectively use email (MS Outlook) and MS Office software programs as necessary.
  • Ability and willingness to effectively use other job-related technology tools.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand under 1/3 of the time.
  • Ability to walk under 1/3 of the time.
  • Ability to sit over 2/3 of the time.
  • Ability to talk or hear from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time.
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs. under 1/3 of the time.

Work Environment:

  • The work environment is that of a fast-paced office with minimal to high noise levels and moderate temperatures.
  • This position requires working independently as well as part of a team.
  • This position requires verbal and face-to-face contact with others daily.
