Director of Panhellenic Management 
 

                  Title: Director of Panhellenic Management/Chief Panhellenic Officer  

  Staff Manager: Director of Collegiate Management and Director of Growth  

Position Status: Volunteer, two-year appointment   

  

Position Summary: Oversees the Panhellenic Team and the Advance NPC Team. Represents Sigma Kappa as the Chief Panhellenic Officer (CPO) to the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC).  

  

Qualifications:  

  • Initiated member of Sigma Kappa Sorority  

  • Experience working with undergraduates and/or alumnae and/or life skills that relate to the position summary  

  • Prior experience and/or familiarity with the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC)  

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, customer service skills, organizational and delegation skills, time and project management, attention to detail, and interpersonal/relationship building skills  

  

Responsibilities:   

  • Serves as the Chief Panhellenic Officer representing Sigma Kappa to the National Panhellenic Conference  

  • Leads the Panhellenic director team representing Sigma Kappa to the NPC volunteers and staff; participates in weekly director calls, Panhellenic team calls, and any other special team or NPC calls  

  • Works with the directors of Panhellenic support in identifying members for the Panhellenic Team (internal) and Advance NPC Team (external)   

  • Collaborates with the Panhellenic director team and staff on college and alumnae Panhellenic issues. Seeks pertinent information from director-level volunteers and staff, and national council in order to share Sigma Kappa’s position(s) on specific campus/local concerns such as:    

  • College and alumnae Panhellenic governing document conversations and social/risk policy changes   

  • Recruitment, RFM and quota/total, extension and Panhellenic Community conversations   

  • Recognition contingent upon campus benchmarking/awards assessments   

  • Campus incidents/mandates that infringe on private membership organizations rights   

  • Housing-related proposals and mandates   

  • Communicates regularly with the national president and Chief Executive Officer on high-level NPC requests, strategy, policy, and communications  

  • Oversees and promotes alumnae Panhellenic representation and engagement   

  • Ensures the required NPC volunteer roles are filled with Sigma Kappa volunteers and staff including area advisors for 25 college Panhellenics and NPC operational committee members  

  • Works in partnership with NPC staff and volunteers to provide education and training to the Advance NPC Team who are members of Sigma Kappa and volunteer for NPC (e.g., area advisors, area advisor coordinators, RFM specialists, committee volunteers)   

  • Participates on appointed NPC operational committees and may serve on other special committees  

  • Participates on monthly NPC Campus calls if applicable   

  • Attends and facilitates programming at NPCs Annual Education Conference and Regional Conference(s)  

  • Maintains familiarity and understanding of the contents of the NPC Manual of Information (MOI); upholds and maintains knowledge about NPC Unanimous Agreements, policies, best practices, and Bylaws

  • Consistently demonstrates through words, actions and interactions, alignment with the Sorority’s values, strategic direction and commitment to diversity, equity access and inclusion, focusing on the success of the organization   

  • Exhibits a positive, problem-solving mindset and a spirit of teamwork and cooperation    

  • Maintains and develops materials and procedure files as appropriate to the position   

  • Maintains high professional and personal standards   

  • Promotes the ongoing development of a service rapport with collegiate chapters, local and national volunteers, headquarters staff and all members of the Sorority   

  • Maintains positive public relations within the Sorority, among all Sorority entities, in contact with other NPC, NPHC, MGC and NIC groups, university officials, vendors and others   

  • Follows national policies and procedures and abides by the local house/facility rules of each chapter during visits   

  • Promotes a sense of national pride in Sigma Kappa 

  • Attends national convention (even years) and participates in other training(s) offered to national volunteers. Failure to complete required onboarding and training could result in the withholding of a convention allowance or potential removal from position    

  • Required attendance at the Summit for Volunteers (annually)  

  • Per the National Policy Handbook (NPH), all national officers shall pay alumnae dues either to a local alumnae chapter or directly to national headquarters  

  • All national officers are encouraged to make an annual financial contribution and/or planned gift to the Sigma Kappa Foundation, , per the National Policy Handbook   

  • Perform other duties as may be prescribed by the director of collegiate services or director of growth of Sigma Kappa Sorority   

  • Foster an environment where members are welcomed, valued for who they are, and everyone is treated with respect.  

 

Technical/Computer Skills:   

  • Ability to effectively use email and Microsoft Office software programs, including a strong understanding of Microsoft Teams and Zoom 

  • Ability and willingness to effectively use other position-related technology tools    

  

Travel Requirements:   

  • National convention: four days in even years, with travel (volunteers are responsible for paying the registration fee)  

  • NPC Membership Meeting: three days annually with travel  

  

Optional Travel:   

  • Summit for Collegiate Leadership: three days annually, including travel (if selected as a facilitator, via the application process)   

  • Biennial area advisor training: three days in even years, with travel (if selected as an area advisor, via the application process)  

  • RFM specialist training: four days for Leadership Team, or three days for specialists annually including travel (if selected, via the application process) 

  

Time Commitment:   

  • 12-18 hours per week  

  • Participate in quarterly volunteer director meetings (one-two hours) and other calls as needed  

  • Participate in regular meetings with supervisor and/or national headquarters staff   

  • Participate in regular meetings with volunteer team  

  

Volunteer Environment:    

  • This position requires working independently as well as part of a team.    

  • This position requires frequent verbal and face-to-face contact with others. Frequent use of a computer, general office equipment, and/or personal device (e.g., cell phone, tablet) is necessary.
