Director of Volunteer Training
Title: Director of Volunteer Training (DVT)
Staff Manager: eLearning Manager
Position Status: Volunteer, two-year appointment
Position Summary: Provides oversight of training and development for national volunteers and advisors. Collaborates with other directors to address ongoing subject matter training needs. Supervises the Volunteer Training Coordinators.
Qualifications:

Initiated member of Sigma Kappa Sorority
-
Experience in learning/training development and facilitation: Prior experience or familiarity with creating and delivering training programs.
-
Strong project management and coordination skills: Proven ability to manage projects, coordinate tasks, and provide feedback effectively.
-
Essential skills: Proficiency in communication, delegation, time management, attention to detail, relationship building, teamwork and organization.
Responsibilities:
-
Provide Direction: Assist in providing direction for national volunteers and advisors' training and development efforts
-
Onboarding Oversight: Oversee national volunteer and advisor onboarding, including identifying learning outcomes and scheduling topics, and collaborate with programming and training staff to develop, assess, and update onboarding and ongoing training content.

Ongoing Education Strategy: Develop strategies for continuous education of volunteers, including creating content, conducting assessments, and collaborating on eLearning and instructor-led training opportunities. Partner with NHQ staff and directors to identify training needs and ensure consistency in programming.

Supervising: Supervise the volunteer training coordinators (VTCs)

Collaboration: Works with Sigma Kappa staff and other volunteer teams to identify onboarding and training needs

Promotes the ongoing development of a service rapport with collegiate chapters, local and national volunteers, headquarters staff and all members of the Sorority

Maintains positive public relations within the Sorority, among all Sorority entities, in contact with other NPC, NPHC, MGC and NIC groups, university officials, vendors and others

Follows national policies and procedures and abides by the local house/suite rules of each chapter during visits

Promotes a sense of national pride in Sigma Kappa

Attends national convention (even years) and participates in other training(s) offered to national volunteers. Failure to complete required onboarding and training could result in the withholding of a convention allowance or potential removal from position

Required attendance at the Summit for Volunteers (annually)

Per the National Policy Handbook (NPH), all national officers shall pay alumnae dues either to a local alumnae chapter or directly to national headquarters All national officers are encouraged to make an annual financial contribution and/or planned gift to the Sigma Kappa Foundation, per the National Policy Handbook

Perform other duties as may be prescribed by the director of growth of Sigma Kappa Sorority

Technical/Computer Skills:

Ability to effectively use email and Microsoft Office software programs, including a strong understanding of Microsoft Teams.

Ability and willingness to effectively use other position-related technology tools.
Travel Requirements:
-
National convention: four days in even years, with travel (volunteers are responsible for paying the registration fee)
Optional Travel:
-
Summit for Collegiate Leadership: three days annually, including travel (if selected as a facilitator, via the application process)
Time Commitment:
-
Approximately 10-15 hours per week when not traveling

Participate in quarterly volunteer director calls (one-two hours) and other calls as needed
-
Participate in regular calls with supervisor and/or national headquarters staff
-
Participate in regular calls with volunteer team
Volunteer Environment:
-
This position requires working independently as well as part of a team.

This position requires frequent verbal and face-to-face contact with others. Frequent use of a computer, general office equipment, and/or personal device (e.g., cell phone, tablet) is necessary.
