Title: Volunteer Onboarding Coordinator

Supervisor Title: Director of Volunteer Recruitment

Position Status: Volunteer, one-year appointment

Position Summary: Works under the direction of the director of volunteer recruitment (DVR) to welcome and transition new local and national volunteers through the appointment and onboarding process. Collaborates with the volunteer recruitment coordinators (VRC) and volunteer training coordinators (VTC) to ensure a seamless experience for all new and returning volunteers.

Qualifications:

· Initiated member of Sigma Kappa Sorority

· Experience working with undergraduates and/or alumnae and/or life skills that relate to the position summary

· Prior experience and/or familiarity with collegiate management, recruiting and training

· Strong written and oral communication skills, high attention to detail, customer service skills, organizational and delegation skills, time and project management, and interpersonal/relationship building skills

Responsibilities:

· Ensure that newly appointed advisors are properly welcomed, onboarded and trained

· Oversees strategic progress in their district or area of responsibility by aiding the Director of Volunteer Recruitment (DVR) and Director of Volunteer Training (DVT) with onboarding and retention of volunteers

· Updates and maintains the welcome materials to ensure up-to-date information with incoming volunteers

· Monitors the progress and participation of ABSs in training opportunities

· Serves as the liaison between the volunteer recruitment team and the programming and training team

· Work with Director of Volunteer Engagement to submit new volunteer onboarding opportunities in The SKoop and The LowDown

· Work with Director of Volunteer Engagement to manage the Microsoft Teams National Officer and the Advisory Board Supervisor channel member roster

· For CAP chapters, serves as a member of respective chapter advancement program (CAP) teams

· Exhibits a positive, problem-solving mindset and a spirit of teamwork and cooperation

· Maintains and develops materials and procedure files as appropriate to the position

· Maintains high professional and personal standards

· Promotes the ongoing development of a service rapport with collegiate chapters, local and national volunteers, headquarters staff and all members of the Sorority

· Maintains positive public relations within the Sorority, among all Sorority entities, in contact with other NPC, NPHC, MGC and NIC groups, university officials, vendors and others

· Follows national policies and procedures and abide by the local house/suite rules of each chapter during visits

· Promotes a sense of national pride in Sigma Kappa and a strong sisterhood in all chapters visited

· Attends national convention (even years) and the Summit for Volunteers (annually) as well as participates in other training(s) offered to national volunteers. Failure to complete required onboarding and training could result in the withholding of a convention allowance (even years) or potential removal from position

· Per the National Policy Handbook (NPH), all national officers shall pay alumnae dues either to a local alumnae chapter or directly to national headquarters All national officers are encouraged to make an annual financial contribution and/or planned gift to the Sigma Kappa Foundation, Inc., per the National Policy Handbook

· Perform other duties as may be prescribed by the director of volunteer recruitment or director of volunteer engagement of Sigma Kappa Sorority

Technical/Computer Skills:

· Ability to effectively use email and Microsoft Office software programs, including a strong understanding of Microsoft Teams and Zoom.

· Ability and willingness to effectively use other position-related technology tools

Travel Requirements:

· 3-4 days annually, 10% weekdays, 90% weekends

· National convention: four days in even years, with travel (responsible for paying convention registration fee)

Optional Travel:

· Summit for Collegiate Leadership: three days annually, including travel (if selected as a facilitator, via the application process)

Time Commitment:

5-10 hours per week

· Participate in regular calls with supervisor, peer team and/or national headquarters staff

· Participate in regular calls with volunteer team

· Participate in regular calls with volunteer training coordinators and volunteer recruitment coordinators

Volunteer Environment:   

  • This position requires working independently as well as part of a team.   

  • This position requires frequent verbal and face-to-face contact with others. Frequent use of a computer, general office equipment, and/or personal device (e.g., cell phone, tablet) is necessary.
