Title: Alumnae Chapter and Network Growth Coordinator 

 

Supervisor Title: Director of Alumnae Chapter Management 

 

Position Status: Volunteer, two-year appointment  

 

Position Summary: The Alumnae Chapter & Network Growth Coordinator leads Sigma Kappa's efforts to expand alumnae engagement by supporting the establishment of new alumnae chapters and networks. This volunteer identifies opportunities for growth, recruits and mentors prospective leaders, guides volunteers through the formation process, and collaborates with headquarters staff to strengthen Sigma Kappa's alumnae community through sustainable expansion. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Initiated member of Sigma Kappa Sorority 

  • Experience working with undergraduates and/or alumnae and/or life skills that relate to the position summary 

  • Prior experience and/or familiarity with membership engagement  

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, customer service skills, organizational and delegation skills, time and project management, attention to detail, and interpersonal/relationship building skills 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Respond to inquiries from members interested in establishing a chapter or network. Assist in recruiting and cultivating volunteer leaders.  

  • Identify geographic areas and affinity groups with the potential to establish new chapters or networks.  

  • Recommend priorities for expansion of chapters and networks based on member demographics and strategic goals.  

  • Guide volunteers through the chapter or network establishment process form initial interest through petitioning national council.  

  • Develop and maintain resources, templates, and best practices for starting new chapters and networks. Provide orientation and resources for newly formed chapter and network leadership. 

  • Collaborate with staff and alumnae chapter management team to monitor membership trends and identify expansion opportunities.

  • Exhibits a positive, problem-solving mindset and a spirit of teamwork and cooperation   

  • Maintains and develops materials and procedure files as appropriate to the position  

  • Maintains high professional and personal standards  

  • Promotes the ongoing development of a service rapport with collegiate chapters, local and national volunteers, headquarters staff and all members of the Sorority  

  • Maintains positive public relations within the Sorority, among all Sorority entities, in contact with other NPC, NPHC, MGC and NIC groups, university officials, vendors and others  

  • Follows national policies and procedures and abide by the local house/suite rules of each chapter during visits  

  • Promotes a sense of national pride in Sigma Kappa and a strong sisterhood in all chapters visited  

  • Attends national convention (even years) and the Summit for Volunteers (annually) as well as participates in other training(s) offered to national volunteers. Failure to complete required onboarding and training could result in the withholding of a convention allowance (even years) or potential removal from position    

  • Per the National Policy Handbook (NPH), all national officers shall pay alumnae dues either to a local alumnae chapter or directly to national headquarters All national officers are encouraged to make an annual financial contribution and/or planned gift to the Sigma Kappa Foundation, Inc., per the National Policy Handbook  

  • Perform other duties as may be prescribed by the director of alumnae chapter management, alumnae engagement manager, or director of alumnae engagement of Sigma Kappa Sorority  

  

Technical/Computer Skills:  

  • Ability to effectively use email and Microsoft Office software programs, including a strong understanding of Microsoft Teams and Zoom.  

  • Ability and willingness to effectively use other position-related technology tools   

 

Travel Requirements:   

  • 3-4 days annually, 10% weekdays, 90% weekends  

  • National convention: four days in even years, with travel (responsible for paying convention registration fee)  

 

Optional Travel:   

  • Summit for Collegiate Leadership: three days annually, including travel (if selected as a facilitator, via the application process)  

 

 

Time Commitment:  

10-15 hours per month when not travelling: 

  • Participate in quarterly volunteer coordinator calls (about one hour) and other calls as needed 

  • Participate in regular calls with supervisor and/or national headquarters staff  

  • Participate in regular calls with volunteer team 

 

Volunteer Environment:  

  • This position requires working independently as well as part of a team.   

  • This position requires frequent verbal and face-to-face contact with others. Frequent use of a computer, general office equipment, and/or personal device (e.g., cell phone, tablet) is necessary.   

  • The position requires appropriate confidentiality and discretion.
