                   Title: Director of Continuous Open Bidding (COB)  

  Staff Manager: Director of Growth  

Position Status: Volunteer, two-year appointment   

  
Position Summary: Responsible for promoting and supervising all areas of continuous open bidding (COB) strategies for collegiate chapters. The director strives to continuously improve national awareness of recruitment to collegians and alumnae.  

  

Qualifications:  

  • Initiated member of Sigma Kappa Sorority  

  • Experience working with undergraduates and/or alumnae and/or life skills that relate to the position summary  

  • Prior experience and/or familiarity with recruitment preferred  

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, customer service skills, organizational and delegation skills, time and project management, attention to detail, and interpersonal/relationship building skills  

  

Responsibilities:  

  • Develops and maintains an overarching strategic plan for COB. Identifies strategies, procedures, resources and support needed to increase COB knowledge, success and practices  

  • Recruits, trains and oversees COB coordinators in assigned districts and ensures roles and responsibilities are completed as expected 

  • In conjunction with the directors of recruitment, works with recruitment and COB coordinators to maintain current chapter sizes, campus totals and report on membership trends   

  • Collaborates with COB coordinators and NHQ staff to provide strategic support for chapters not meeting COB expectations   

  • Reviews COB resources and works collaboratively with the recruitment team and NHQ staff to ensure necessary resources are developed and current resources are continually updated to meet the COB education needs of collegiate chapters   

  • Collaborates with collegiate management staff and volunteer members to understand how COB can coincide with the current chapter’s responsibilities

  • Consistently demonstrates through words, actions and interactions, alignment with the Sorority’s values, strategic direction and commitment to diversity, equity access and inclusion, focusing on the success of the organization   

  • Exhibits a positive, problem-solving mindset and a spirit of teamwork and cooperation    

  • Maintains and develops materials and procedure files as appropriate to the position   

  • Maintains high professional and personal standards   

  • Promotes the ongoing development of a service rapport with collegiate chapters, local and national volunteers, headquarters staff and all members of the Sorority   

  • Maintains positive public relations within the Sorority, among all Sorority entities, in contact with other NPC, NPHC, MGC and NIC groups, university officials, vendors and others   

  • Follows national policies and procedures and abides by the local house/suite rules of each chapter during visits   

  • Promotes a sense of national pride in Sigma Kappa  

  • Attends national convention (even years) and participates in other training(s) offered to national volunteers. Failure to complete required onboarding and training could result in the withholding of a convention allowance or potential removal from position    

  • Required attendance at the Summit for Volunteers (annually)  

  • Per the National Policy Handbook (NPH), all national officers shall pay alumnae dues either to a local alumnae chapter or directly to national headquarters All national officers are encouraged to make an annual financial contribution and/or planned gift to the Sigma Kappa Foundation, , per the National Policy Handbook   

  • Perform other duties as may be prescribed by the director of growth of Sigma Kappa Sorority   

  • Foster an environment where members are welcomed, valued for who they are, and everyone is treated with respect.  

 

Technical/Computer Skills:   

  • Ability to effectively use email and Microsoft Office software programs, including a strong understanding of Microsoft Teams and Zoom.   

  • Ability and willingness to effectively use other position-related technology tools   i.e MyVote, CampusDirector, ICS, etc  

  

Travel Requirements:   

  • Around 5 days annually, more in a convention year. 10% weekdays, 90% weekends   

  • National convention: four days in even years, with travel (volunteers are responsible for paying the registration fee)  

  

Optional Travel:    

  • Summit for Collegiate Leadership: three days annually, including travel (if selected as a facilitator, via the application process)   

  

Time Commitment:   

  • Approximately 10-15 hours per week when not traveling  

  • Participate in quarterly volunteer director calls (one-two hours) and other calls as needed  

  • Participate in regular calls with supervisor and/or national headquarters staff   

  • Participate in regular calls with volunteer team  
       

Volunteer Environment:    

  • This position requires working independently as well as part of a team.    

  • This position requires frequent verbal and face-to-face contact with others. Frequent use of a computer, general office equipment, and/or personal device (e.g., cell phone, tablet) is necessary.    

  • The position requires appropriate confidentiality and discretion.
