Title: Editorial Coordinator–Alumnae 

Staff Liaison: Director of Publications 

Position Status: Volunteer, two-year appointment  

Position Summary: The editorial coordinator–alumnae is responsible for compiling, selecting and editing the alumnae chapter photos and captions for the Sigma Kappa Triangle. 

Qualifications: 

  • Initiated member of Sigma Kappa Sorority 

  • Experience working with alumnae and/or life skills that relate to the position summary 

  • Experience with writing and/or editing 

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, customer service skills, organizational and delegation skills, time and project management, attention to detail, and interpersonal/relationship building skills 

Responsibilities: 

  • Receives photographs and captions from alumnae chapter Sigma Kappa Triangle correspondents 

  • Compiles and edits material; submits to the editor by predetermined deadlines  

  • Sends reminder emails to alumnae Sigma Kappa Triangle correspondents as deadlines approach 

  • Keeps records for communications award: based on photos being submitted by deadline, manner/quality of submissions

  • Maintains and develops materials and procedure files as appropriate to the position. 

  • Maintains high professional and personal standards. 

  • Promotes the ongoing development of a service rapport with collegiate chapters, local and national volunteers, headquarters staff, and all members of the Sorority. 

  • Maintains positive public relations within the Sorority, among all Sorority entities, other NPC, NPHC, MGC and NIC groups, university officials, vendors, and others. 

  • Follows national policies and procedures and abides by local house/suite rules when visiting collegiate chapter facilities. 

  • Promotes a sense of national pride in Sigma Kappa and a strong sisterhood in all related interactions. 

  • Completes all required training and onboarding and participates in additional training opportunities offered to national volunteers. 

  • Attends the Summit for Volunteers annually. 

  • Attends national convention in even-numbered years. 

  • Per the National Policy Handbook, all national officers shall pay alumnae dues either to a local alumnae chapter or directly to national headquarters. 

  • All national officers are encouraged to make an annual financial contribution and/or planned gift to the Sigma Kappa Foundation in accordance with the National Policy Handbook. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the director of publications. 

  • Fosters an environment where members are welcomed, valued for who they are, and treated with respect.  

Technical/Computer Skills:  

  • Ability to effectively use email and Microsoft Office software programs, including a strong understanding of Microsoft Teams and Zoom.  

  • Ability and willingness to effectively use other position-related technology tools (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.)    

Travel Requirements:   

  • 3-4 days annually, 10% weekdays, 90% weekends  

  • National convention: four days in even years, with travel (responsible for paying convention registration fee)  

Optional Travel:   

  • Summit for Collegiate Leadership: three days annually, including travel (if selected as a facilitator, via the application process)  

Time Commitment:  

8-10 hours per quarter when not travelling 

  • Participate in quarterly volunteer director calls (~ one hour) and other calls as needed 

  • Participate in regular calls with supervisor and/or national headquarters staff  

  • Participate in regular calls with volunteer team 

Volunteer Environment:   

  • This position requires working independently as well as part of a team.   

  • This position requires frequent verbal and face-to-face contact with others. Frequent use of a computer, general office equipment, and/or personal device (e.g., cell phone, tablet) is necessary.
