Title: Extension Development Coordinator  

Supervisor Title: Director of Growth  

Position Status: Volunteer, two-year appointment   

Position Summary: Works under the direction of the director of growth and in collaboration with the extension team to support and execute Sigma Kappa’s extension process. This role focuses on cultivating and coordinating alumnae engagement throughout each extension project and serves as the primary liaison to local alumnae, building relationships and mobilizing support to help create a strong foundation for the new chapter.   

Qualifications:  

  • Initiated member of Sigma Kappa Sorority  

  • Experience working with undergraduates and alumnae and/or life skills that relate to the position summary  

  • Prior experience and/or familiarity with extension/establishing new chapters and/or recruitment  

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, customer service skills, organizational and delegation skills, time and project management, attention to detail, and interpersonal/relationship building skills  

Responsibilities:  

  • Serves as extension team liaison to the alumnae engagement team.     

  • Serves as primary liaison to alumnae during extension projects. Provides regular updates, answers questions and shares relevant information to alumnae, under the direction of the director of growth.   

  • Coordinates alumnae engagement and manages logistics for alumnae involvement in extension presentations, new chapter establishment, and Initiation/installation events. 

  • When selected to establish a new chapter, works with the director of alumnae engagement, alumnae engagement manager and director of growth to coordinate and host local alumnae reception(s).   

  • Works with the new chapter team to cultivate alumnae as potential advisory board and corporation board/property committee members, including the coordination of virtual and in-person advisory board interest meetings.  

  • Collaborates with the alumnae engagement manager to promote, cultivate, and manage the operational logistics of the alumnae initiate program as part of the new chapter installation weekend.   

  • Supports installation events, as requested.

  • Maintains positive public relations within the Sorority, among all Sorority entities, other NPC, NPHC, MGC and NIC groups, university officials, vendors, and others. 

  • Follows national policies and procedures and abides by local house/suite rules when visiting collegiate chapter facilities. 

  • Promotes a sense of national pride in Sigma Kappa and a strong sisterhood in all related interactions. 

  • Completes all required training and onboarding and participates in additional training opportunities offered to national volunteers. 

  • Attends the Summit for Volunteers annually. 

  • Attends national convention in even-numbered years. 

  • Per the National Policy Handbook, all national officers shall pay alumnae dues either to a local alumnae chapter or directly to national headquarters. 

  • All national officers are encouraged to make an annual financial contribution and/or planned gift to the Sigma Kappa Foundation in accordance with the National Policy Handbook. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the director of growth. 

  • Fosters an environment where members are welcomed, valued for who they are, and treated with respect. 

Technical/Computer Skills:  

  • Ability to effectively use email and Microsoft Office software programs, including a strong understanding of Microsoft Teams and Zoom.  

  • Ability and willingness to effectively use other position-related technology tools  

Travel Requirements:  

  • 7-10 days annually; varies based on extension project  

  • Travel to extension events (alumnae receptions, installation, etc.) as requested 

  • National convention: four days in even years; volunteers are responsible for paying the convention registration fee 

Optional Travel:  

  • Summit for Collegiate Leadership: three days annually, if selected as a facilitator 

Time Commitment: 

  • 5-10/week, varies based on current extension project needs  

  • Participate in regular calls with national headquarters staff  

  • Participate in regular calls with extension and new chapter teams  

Volunteer Environment:   

  • This position requires working independently as well as part of a team.   

  • This position requires frequent verbal and face-to-face contact with others. Frequent use of a computer, general office equipment, and/or personal device (e.g., cell phone, tablet) is necessary.
