Position Status: Volunteer, two-year appointment
Position Summary: Provides oversight on all aspects of harm reduction for collegiate chapters while overseeing the risk management coordinators; partners with risk management core team and collegiate district directors to assure that all collegiate chapters are following National Policy Handbook requirements; assumes RMC role during vacancy.
Qualifications:
- Initiated member of Sigma Kappa Sorority
- Experience working with undergraduates and/or alumnae and/or life skills that relate to the position summary
- Prior experience and/or familiarity with collegiate chapter risk management
- Strong written and oral communication skills, customer service skills, organizational and delegation skills, time and project management, attention to detail, and interpersonal/relationship building skills
Responsibilities:
- Works as a partner with the other director of harm reduction (DHR), collegiate management team and risk management coordinators (RMCs) to bridge communication between chapters and headquarters staff
- Supervises the work of the RMCs to ensure that the team is trained in Sorority risk management policies, event management, procedures, and harm reduction
- Serves on risk management core team with Harm Reduction Manager director of collegiate management (DCM) and collegiate district director (CDD)
- Collaborates with the risk management core team during the investigation process for risk incidents
- Monitors the progress of chapters who have received a letter of reprimand (LOR) or probation (LOP) as a result of a risk incident in absence of RMC
- Facilitates harm reduction related chapter visits (as needed)
- Reviews risk management policy special dispensations submitted by chapters in collaboration with the CDD and ABS

- Promotes the ongoing development of a service rapport with collegiate chapters, local and national volunteers, headquarters staff and all members of the Sorority
- Maintains positive public relations within the Sorority, among all Sorority entities, in contact with other NPC, NPHC, MGC and NIC groups, university officials, vendors and others
- Follows national policies and procedures and abides by the local house/suite rules of each chapter during visits
- Promotes a sense of national pride in Sigma Kappa and a strong sisterhood in all chapters visited
- Attends national convention (even years) and participates in other training(s) offered to national volunteers
- Failure to complete the required onboarding and training could result in the withholding of a convention allowance or potential removal from position
- Required attendance at the Summit for Volunteers (annually)
- Per the National Policy Handbook (NPH), all national officers shall pay alumnae dues either to a local alumnae chapter or directly to national headquarters All national officers are encouraged to make an annual financial contribution and/or planned gift to the Sigma Kappa Foundation, per the National Policy Handbook
- Perform other duties as may be prescribed by the harm reduction manager and/ or director of collegiate management of Sigma Kappa Sorority
- Foster an environment where members are welcomed, valued for who they are, and everyone is treated with respect.
Technical/Computer Skills:
- Ability to effectively use email and Microsoft Office software programs, including a strong understanding of Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
- Ability and willingness to effectively use other position-related technology tools (social event registration software, chapter roster management software, etc.)
Travel Requirements:
~7-10 days annually, 10% weekdays, 90% weekends
- Travels, as needed, to support collegiate chapters as related to risk incidents, investigations or other crisis management
- National convention: four days in even years, with travel (volunteers are responsible for paying the registration fee)
Optional Travel:
- Summit for Collegiate Leadership: three days annually, including travel (if selected as a facilitator, via the application process)
Time Commitment:
~10-15 hours per week when not traveling
- Participate in quarterly volunteer director calls (one-two hours) and other calls as needed
- Participate in monthly calls with supervisor and/or national headquarters staff and others as deemed necessary
- Participate in monthly calls with volunteer team
Volunteer Environment:
- This position requires working independently as well as part of a team.
- This position requires frequent verbal and face-to-face contact with others. Frequent use of a computer, general office equipment, and/or personal device (e.g., cell phone, tablet) is necessary.
