Title: Panhellenic Coordinator 

Supervisor Title: Director of Panhellenic Operations 

Position Status: Volunteer, two-year appointment  

Position Summary: Works under the direction of the assigned director of Panhellenic operations to support collegiate officers and chapters, national officers, and alumnae advisors with guidance, interpretation and recommendations related to local College Panhellenic matters within their assigned district. 

Qualifications: 

  • Initiated member of Sigma Kappa Sorority 

  • Experience working with undergraduates and/or alumnae and/or life skills that relate to the position summary 

  • Prior experience and/or familiarity with the National Panhellenic Conference 

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, customer service skills, organizational and delegation skills, time and project management, attention to detail, and interpersonal/relationship building skills 

Responsibilities: 

  • Guides and advises Sigma Kappa collegiate chapter officers, specifically the Panhellenic relations officer, on Panhellenic matters. Informs officers of Panhellenic updates 

  • Communicates regularly and in a timely manner with assigned collegiate chapter members serving as the Panhellenic relations officer and their advisor in assigned district; may serve as direct advisor to the Panhellenic relations officer if a local advisor is not assigned  

  • Assists the Panhellenic leadership team in advising collegiate chapters prior to any votes taken by the Panhellenic regarding Bylaws changes, membership recruitment rules/guidelines development and revisions, recruitment style changes, recruitment infractions, peer accountability processes, extension, NPC Manual of Information (MOI) and procedures interpretation 

  • Maintains close communication with the assigned director of Panhellenic operations  

  • Contributes to Panhellenic team efforts to produce educational information, workshops, etc. for College Panhellenic relations officers 

  • Coordinates and submits Sigma Kappa award nominations for Panhellenic officers and highlights chapter participation in Panhellenic activities. 

  • Provides ideas and suggestions for Panhellenic-related programming that chapters can implement on their campuses   

  • Works with national officers and volunteers in assigned district  

  • Maintains familiarity and understanding of the contents of the NPC MOI; upholds and maintains knowledge about NPC Unanimous Agreements, policies, best practices, and Bylaws

  • Maintains positive public relations within the Sorority, among all Sorority entities, other NPC, NPHC, MGC and NIC groups, university officials, vendors, and others. 

  • Follows national policies and procedures and abides by local house/suite rules when visiting collegiate chapter facilities. 

  • Promotes a sense of national pride in Sigma Kappa and a strong sisterhood in all related interactions. 

  • Completes all required training and onboarding and participates in additional training opportunities offered to national volunteers. 

  • Attends the Summit for Volunteers annually. 

  • Attends national convention in even-numbered years. 

  • Per the National Policy Handbook, all national officers shall pay alumnae dues either to a local alumnae chapter or directly to national headquarters. 

  • All national officers are encouraged to make an annual financial contribution and/or planned gift to the Sigma Kappa Foundation in accordance with the National Policy Handbook. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the director of panhellenic management or director of panhellenic operations.  

  • Fosters an environment where members are welcomed, valued for who they are, and treated with respect. 

Technical/Computer Skills:  

  • Ability to effectively use email and Microsoft Office software programs, including a strong understanding of Microsoft Teams and Zoom.  

  • Ability and willingness to effectively use other position-related technology tools.   

Travel Requirements:  

  • National convention: four days in even years, with travel (volunteers are responsible for paying the registration fee) 

Optional Travel:  

  • Summit for Collegiate Leadership: three days annually, including travel (if selected as a facilitator, via the application process)  

  • Biennial NPC area advisor training: three days in even years, including travel (if apply and selected as an NPC area advisor) 

  • RFM specialist training: three days in odd years, including travel (if apply and selected as a RFM specialist) 

Time Commitment:  

  • 5-10 hours per week 

  • Participate in monthly volunteer district calls (~ one hour) and other calls as needed 

  • Participate in regular calls with supervisor and/or national headquarters staff  

  • Participate in regular calls with volunteer team 

Volunteer Environment:   

  • This position requires working independently as well as part of a team.   

  • This position requires frequent verbal and face-to-face contact with others. Frequent use of a computer, general office equipment, and/or personal device (e.g., cell phone, tablet) is necessary.
