Title: Continuous Open Bidding (COB) Coordinator 

Supervisor Title: Director of COB 

Position Status: Volunteer, two-year appointment  

Position Summary: Works under the direction of the director of COB to strengthen the awareness, understanding and execution of the continuous recruitment process and techniques throughout the academic year to collegians, alumnae and volunteers in their assigned district. 

Qualifications: 

  • Initiated member of Sigma Kappa Sorority 

  • Experience working with undergraduates and/or alumnae and/or life skills that relate to the position summary 

  • Prior experience and/or familiarity with collegiate recruitment 

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, customer service skills, organizational and delegation skills, time and project management, attention to detail, and interpersonal/relationship building skills 

Responsibilities: 

  • Supports, trains, and empowers recruitment advisors and COB chair advisors (where applicable) to develop and implement a successful continuous open bidding plan for their chapter  

  • Collaborates with the director of recruitment training (DRT) when applicable for training needs   

  • Maintains and documents all communication with recruitment advisors and COB officers needing additional guidance   

  • Provides coaching to recruitment advisors and directors of COB in planning and execution of COB efforts.  

  • Collaborates with Panhellenic Coordinators to review recruitment rules   

  • Assists in the development and presentation of workshops and training to recruitment advisors, empowering them to conduct successful COB training with their collegiate chapters   

  • Provides guidance to recruitment advisors and directors of COB in developing and implementing a COB plan for each campus, ultimately empowering them to conduct successful continuous membership recruitment efforts   

  • Provides guidance in partnership with the recruitment coordinator to the recruitment advisor and public relations officer in promoting the chapter and managing chapter social media and marketing initiatives  

  • Receives, reviews and provides feedback on the COB term report. Contacts chapters/advisors when plans/reports are overdue. Verifies and documents all chapter COB activities and events.  

  • Assesses campus culture to assist in developing a COB plan unique to the chapter’s needs. 

  • Support chapters on the COB coaching program throughout the academic year.

  • Promotes the ongoing development of a service rapport with collegiate chapters, local and national volunteers, headquarters staff, and all members of the Sorority. 

  • Maintains positive public relations within the Sorority, among all Sorority entities, other NPC, NPHC, MGC and NIC groups, university officials, vendors, and others. 

  • Follows national policies and procedures and abides by local house/suite rules when visiting collegiate chapter facilities. 

  • Promotes a sense of national pride in Sigma Kappa and a strong sisterhood in all related interactions. 

  • Completes all required training and onboarding and participates in additional training opportunities offered to national volunteers. 

  • Attends the Summit for Volunteers annually. 

  • Attends national convention in even-numbered years. 

  • Per the National Policy Handbook, all national officers shall pay alumnae dues either to a local alumnae chapter or directly to national headquarters. 

  • All national officers are encouraged to make an annual financial contribution and/or planned gift to the Sigma Kappa Foundation in accordance with the National Policy Handbook. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the director of growth. 

  • Fosters an environment where members are welcomed, valued for who they are, and treated with respect. 

Technical/Computer Skills:  

  • Ability to effectively use email and Microsoft Office software programs, including a strong understanding of Microsoft Teams and Zoom.  

  • Ability and willingness to effectively use other position-related technology tools (i.e. MyVote, CampusDirector, ICS, etc.)  

Travel Requirements:  

  • Less than 5 days annually, 20% weekdays, 80% weekends 

  • Annual chapter visit before, during or after recruitment based on needs of the chapter.  

  • National convention: four days in even years; volunteers are responsible for paying the convention registration fee 

Optional Travel:  

  • Summit for Collegiate Leadership: three days annually, if selected as a facilitator 

Time Commitment:  

  • 5-10 hours/week throughout the year.  

  • Participate in regular calls with supervisor, national recruitment team and national headquarters staff  

Volunteer Environment:   

  • This position requires working independently as well as part of a team.   

  • This position requires frequent verbal and face-to-face contact with others. Frequent use of a computer, general office equipment, and/or personal device (e.g., cell phone, tablet) is necessary.
